The OCEANETS project concludes with a Final Event where the results will be presented and the opportunities and constraints of the recycling of fishing nets will be discussed.
On June 21st, 2021 the final event of the European project OCEANETS, Technological approaches to circular economy solutions for the prevention, recovery, re-use and recycling of fishing nets to obtain products with added value in the textile industry, developed with the support of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund through the EASME program, will take place online. Said project was developed by AIMPLAS, the Cooperative of Fishing vessels’ shipowners of the Port of Vigo, the NGO Asociación Vertidos Cero, the University of Vigo, and the companies ECOALF and SINTEX.
The event will consist of a presentation of the objectives and results obtained, which will be given by Sonia Albein from AIMPLAS, a workshop where the tool designed for the prevention of the loss of gear will be presented and a round table on the opportunities and constraints in the recycling of fishing nets in which Iván López, president of the long-distance fleet advisory council (LDAC), Margarita Ruiz, of the Ministry for the ecological transition and the demographic challenge and Jan Joris, of the NGO KIMO, will participate. The conference will be closed by Javier Touza, president of ARVI.
